takhallus

i was listening to "Iman - The Articles of Faith" by Talib Al-Habib.. a lovely song, i must say! :P actually, this wasn't my first time listening to the song.. i even have searched about the lyric and the artist before.. but now, i just wanna share a bit on the artist who some what amazed me..

Talib al-Habib was born in London in 1976 and grew up in Manchester, before moving to South Africa with his family for a ten year stay. It was here that he met his spiritual guide and began traversing the path of traditional Islam - the methodology of uniting the practical, intellectual and experiential facets of religion - under his instruction. He later returned to the UK in early 2002.

His distinctive style of inshad arises from a ten year childhood association with the Manchester Boy’s Choir, where he received vocal and technical training.

He began composing spiritual poetry and songs at the age of sixteen, and has continued to do so ever since. In early 2004, he was encouraged to compile a collection of English-language spiritual songs, which has culminated in ‘Songs of Innocence,’ an intensely personal journey into the experiential dimensions of Islam. He is also an author of three books of Islamic spirituality and ethics.

Talib has been a student of the sacred sciences for several years, which he pursues both through the traditional method of sitting with a shaykh, as well as through more contemporary approaches. He hopes to one day continue his studies at the classical centres of learning. Talib al-Habib is a takhallus (pen-name) meaning, ‘seeker of the beloved.’ Currently, he lives in the West Midlands, where he practises as a Medical Doctor specialising in Psychiatry. He is married with two young daughters.

the one in green. that's what i meant by amazed me. WOW!!! So amazing, right??? I never heard any medical doctor here in Msia have such enthusiasm in nasheed.. i don't even think i can be one.. hehe~

discrimination?

this is a real story. a real story that had happen to somewhere on the earth. when i come to think about it, i perceive it as a discrimination. u might perceive it differently, maybe different from mine.
one day, 2 friends go to the nearby Islamic Centre at their place in order to settle something.

friend A tu pakai 'tudung labuh' with baju kurung.
friend B hanya pakai 'tudung biasa' with long t-shirt and long pants of course.

after they had settle the work, dieorang pun bersalaman dengan Ustazah tu.
friend B yang bersalaman dulu. then only friend A. bila friend A bersalaman, Ustazah tu peluk and cium pipi [alah.. macam yang selalu kita buat tu]. bila friend B tengok, mestilah dia rasa kecil hati kan? yelaa.. bayangkan.. dengan dia, Ustazah ni tak peluk and cium pun... hina sangat ke diri dia sampai tak diberi layanan kemesraan yang sama? adakah sebab dia pakai pakaian camtu? apa? salah ke kalo pakai baju camtu? friend B ni rasa marah dan geram.. yelaa.. kecik hati sket.. apa boleh buat? perasaan manusia..

apa yang nak diceritakan kat sini, ialah.. from my point of view, this is what people called as DISCRIMINATION. keadaan macam inilah yang menyebabkan masih ramai muslimat yang tak bertudung masih tak mau pakai. yelaa.. dieorang tau itu suruhan Dia.. tapi bagi dieorang yang telah didiscriminate, dieorang akan cakap, even though i do not wear tudung, i act better than those yang pakai..

erm.. sometimes, i can see this kind of situation here in my institution.. it's not about the issue of tudung ke tak. what i want to say here is the issue of discrimination especially in religious matter. kenapa masih wujud lagi?

aku teringat akan satu sabda Rasulullah yang bermaksud,
"Tidaklah sempurna iman salah seorang di antara kalian sehingga dia menyintai saudaranya sebagaimana dia menyintai dirinya sendiri." [i think somewhat related]

good luck?

entering a new block, which is Psychological Medicine. kinda relax ones with lots of "SELF STUDY" time, but the terms are somewhat hard to be described and took a lot of time to memorize them. so, no wonder why this block has a lot of relax time. haha~

so, in conjunction with this block, i would like to emphasize a topic on "Wishing Good Luck: Is it against Islamic Way?". for more information please read
here.

so, what do you think? my opinion is: it is ok to wish good luck. It's just how ur mind perceives about it. And there's absolutely no wrong with it.

Woon Kai Foo

Happy birthday, Kai Foo!!!

Kai Foo is the one infront with the red sling bag.

May all ur wishes come true.. [i know that u must be wishing for a "cing cing" girlfriend, best academics achievement, and etc etc]

We [PBL 13 members] had a suprise celebration for Kai Foo's birthday.. u see.. Nanad said that we have to have a meeting tonite at 10pm. We have to, she said. i almost spoil it by saying why don't we made it earlier.. then, yasmin and su yin gave me some kind of "labial language [lips language]".. lucky me coz i understood..

during the so called meeting, only Kai Foo brought a pen and a book, while for most of us, we only brought our stomach.. haha~ to make a simple story simpler, we managed to suprise him.. Yay~!!!

Kai Foo then messaged us,
Hey my fellow pbl mate. thank you 4 the celebration. it was a real suprise to me. happy n warm. thanks for coming far n spending time 4 just my birthday. to b ketua of u all is such a wonderful experience. hopefully it was not a terrible experience 4 u all. gd9... B-)

what a message?? a long easy way to express the feeling.. haha~

later, i messaged him,
Of coz it is a terrible experience for us to have a very curious ketua like u.. But we are happy for that way coz u initiate us to study more.. Hopefully, ur wishes come true.. Hope u r happy with the new trial of the worst make up ever after.. Haha~ Happy birthday, Kai Foo!

owh yeah.. before i forgot, about the make up thingy. it was Hazwan who did it.. birthday cake on Kai Foo's young and energetic face.. very cruel Hazwan, and pity Kai Foo.. but what to do? it's the best traditional way of celebrating birthday.. owh yes, talking about traditional things, Kai Foo picked up the blown out candles by using his mouth.. owh no!!!! So disgusting!!!! [by the way, it was yasmin's command.. so need to be obeyed!!].. haha~
